I would strongly suggest something over 500W.

The card requirements are for a 500W PSU, but you have to assume that the PSU is not necessarily running at max.

If you are getting a very high-quality PSU, such as a nice Corsair, 500W will do the trick.

Otherwise, Newegg has some pretty good deals on ThermalTake PSUs right now - I just picked up a 600W TR2 for about $40 after discount: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153166&Tpk=thermaltake%20tr2%20600w

It runs my Sapphire 7870Ghz OC 2GB just fine.

Now if I can just resolve that driver issue...

I wanted to post back on this and let you know that my PSU recommendation was not adequate for your needs. I mistakenly bought this PSU intending to get a 600W 80+ Platinum TT supply and have since RMA'd it to Newegg for a 650W G-Series Seasonic, which is 80+ Gold.

To explain, I know the requirements of my system are minimum ~525W with my 7870. An 80+ Gold gets me there and Seasonic received great reviews on this series, including [H] Ed. Gold.

That said, I recommend for today's cards you go minimum 650W with the system you've described and make sure you're getting at least an 80+ bronze-rated supply. If you're not running at least 650W @80% efficiency, you're not guaranteeing that card has the juice it needs under load.

Hope that helps!
