Looking for new PCI Express 2 GFX Card

My motherboard is an ASUS P5QL Pro which I think is PCI Express 2.. I have a radeon 4850 installed but am looking for an upgrade as I have just upgraded to a 22inch monitor.. My budget is around £80GBP ($130) .. What can I get for this money? And what could I notice in terms of new performance?

Thanks for your help

  1. You can put a PCI-e 3.0 card in your PCI-e 2.0 slot and suffer basically zero performance penalty for it.

Just buy whatever you want. Not sure how UK pricing is, but at that price in the US you should get an HD 7770 or a 650ti
  2. Get hd 7770 hands down.this would be best for you.
  3. ^+1 the 7770 is a great card for the money

A 650 ti may also be able to be picked up in the price range as well. a little faster in many games.

  4. you are perfectly fine to go for pci-e 3 cards.....all of them are backward compatible to pcie-2

the gtx 650ti is a bit more expensive though
  5. I don't know how expensive is the 7850 in the UK but I guess it will be above your budget unless you find a very good deal. Other than that the 7770 should fit your budget. Also did you consider buying second hands cards? You can find very good deals sometimes and get something with even more performance for less.
  6. I have an XFX 7750 as well, its DDR5, 1GB, and oc'd to 900mhz and I run Farcry3 in ultra 30+fps, Wow in ultra at 50fps as well. I highly recommend any of the 7700 series.

As a sidenote it was VERY affodable Amazon had it for $110. Can't beat that.
