I currently have a 802.11 G router of 54mbps (its claims its a super G 108 mbps tough). My notebooks have 802.11 N built in. Im thinking of upgrading my router to a 802.11 N 300mbps

However, I know that this may be irrelevant unless I have a internet conection that can achieve such speeds. So how do I test my internet speed to see if G is bottlenecking?

I got ping 17ms, download 9.49 mbps, upload 0.76mbps. Is G still good for me?

If you get a wireless n router the speed inside your network will definately be alot better, for whoever has a wireless n adapter on their pc. You will also get better coverage inside your home as n provides better range than g. In all you will surely be satisfied, because browsing isn't the only thing you use your wifi for!

An internet speed test from any site will only show you what speed your provider offers you at best. You connect to your ISP through a phone line or cable right? And your Wifi network is on the other side of that connection! So what help to you would a speed test be to a wireless router selection?
