Windows not detecting card

My graphics card isnt being recognized by windows or the Nvidia detection thing on their website, my computer crashed and afterwards my graphics card didnt work. I have bought a new motherboard after thinking that was the problem (it wasnt) and my Power supply (600W) and my graphics card (Nvidia 9800 GT) both work fine, the fan on the GPU spins it just isnt recognized.
So far I've tried a lot, Ive tried to reseat the card, got a new motherboard, changed wires etc. I've tried changing the GPU slot to priority in the BIOS, disabling the onboard graphics, scanned windows for errors and fixed most of them (some errors are being reported as unfixable), installed drivers for everything except the graphics card since the installation wont work. what else can I do? I may soon reinstall windows and see if that helps, although I really dont want to do that.
Thanks in advance
