Hello all. I recently built my personal rig: i7 3770k, EVGA GTX 670, 16GB G.Skill Sniper RAM, 750GB HDD, Corsair CX750M, ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155, All packed inside a Corsair C70 White. I love it compared to my old one. is mah bb. But it's not really performing like I expected. I currently play Planetside 2/Borderlands 2/CSS for the most part... I see constant drops in PS2 down to low 30's, which is sooo lagggyyyyyy >_< even on all settings turned to medium and motion blur off, It stays the same. I was really hoping to never go below 40. PhysX isn't a huge deal for me. It's nice but whatevah. Should I return my 670 and get the similarly priced 7970 before it's too late? Thanks.

OR even a 7950? I've seen them overclocked to 680 level.. would that be reasonable to get a really HQ 7950? thanks.
EDIT: Especially since the 7950 comes with Crysis 3 and Bioshock, and i already redeemed the borderlands 2 code that came with my 670..

I don't have experience on Borderlands 2, but on Planetside 2 it is not optimized I believe everyone is experiencing big drops in crowded area's. You can check out the official website for all sorts of fun fixes, in the end though, the best advice is to wait. Your range should be like mine 40-100 fps range with the 670.

As for exchanging that's up to you, 7970 is a better card in the same range or if you want the free games. I believe you should still expect frame drops in PS2 even with a better card until they transfer more of the games assets to the gpu from the cpu.

Overclocking your cpu may gain you a few frames since it's not optimized it's still using the cpu a bit.

Edit:
Wanted to add try setting the game to ultra in the ini file, that gains fps for some people.

Hold on, let me get a benchmark of BL2 for you up. I have a 560 Ti 2GDDR5/OC + i5 3570K @ stock so let's compare. What settings do you have on? If you can just take a screenshot and benchmark it, that would be awesome.

Do you have the VSync on? I have a 120hz monitor with vsync on, plays pretty smooth. If you do have it on with 60hz try the adaptive sync in the nvidia control panel may make it less jerky.

Also try lowering the AA see if that helps.

Guys - please specify which game you're both talking about. Planetside 2 is getting PhysX soon, and if I can't max it with physX on I'm giving up.

Also planetside 2 settings are all on medium with all the little details off and still 60fps warpgate, 35-40 huge battles.

U should look at overclocking CPU, buy big cooler for it, should be able to run multiplier roun x45 for 4.5GHz @ roun 76-80 degrees, then keep C1E enabled in UEFI so when not stressing machine multiplier will drop to roun 22-25 idling 2.2GHZ to 2.5Ghz, when you apply load like a game or intensive program multiplier will jump back to x45 giving you performance, & then power saving when not needed plus not stressing cpu all the time.

80C is retarded hot. I refuse to have mine push 60 in realistic situations. and like I said, I overclocked to 4.2 and 1100, and no performance increase, and only ~ 2 fps increase when turning all settings to low and all things off, render quality to 50, and render down to 1k.

I'm talking about planetside 2 except for the try lower aa comment x16 may be lowering your frames in borderlands 2.

Do you have the vertical sync on on Planetside 2? I think I may have read Mattherson was lagging a little after the last patch. What are your frames on high?

I'm TR on Helios
