Hello, first time builder, so please excuse any incompetence.

I am trying to build a gaming rig, and I will be using one LED 24'' 1080p Monitor as my primary monitor while also using an old 17'' fullscreen VGA monitor as well. I already have an HDMI and a VGA cable, but do I need to buy an adapter to connect to the VGA monitor, or will it normally come with it? The graphics cards I am looking at right now are the GTX 560 Ti, GTX 660 Ti, and Radeon HD 7870.

most modern mid-range cards dont provide native vga output, but they often provide DVI-VGA adapter in the box :)

as you will see shopping, they are all different. even within models, we will use the 7870 the xfx 7870 (refrence model) has 2 dvi, 1 hdmi and two midi display ports,Sapphire 7870 has 2 dvi, 1 hdmi and 1 full size display port. some come with adapters like the saphire comes with a dvi to vga adapters and some low end cards do not. you should pick one according to youre needs.
