Last response: in Systems

Hi All

Since i havent kept track of new developments in pc hardware i need some feedback on the system that i am thinking of building from scratch.

I am going to be using the PC only for intensive gaming and doing work. Any input in terms of better parts that the ones below would be greatly appreciated

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H
CPU: Intel i5 3570K
HDD: WD Black 1TB
Graphics: Sapphire 7870

More about : solved feedback build

The UD3H is cheaper better option and same in almost all regards unless you need the extra IO

I would opt for a WD blue 1TB or Seagate 7200.14 1tb over the black drives unless you really dig the warranty sicne the blue/7200.14 are actually faster.

You may want to take a look at the 7870XT from Sapphire as its currently a better price/perf buy than the normal 7870's

Looks fine. The 1TB WD Black Drives have been off and on sale often as of late so try to fine one of those. I think the sale price has been around 80$. The 3570k is really only required if you intend to OC. Which I would always recommend with a modern processor anyway but some people refuse to do so.

As Stickmansam mentioned I would do the UD3H unless you really need those added features. I just did a high end build with one and I cannot really see the value in the cost.

As far as PSU goes....plan ahead. The draw of your system at the moment will be fairly minimal and a 500 watt PSU would certainly be enough. There are a few things to consider though. Well built PSUs pay for themselves. I have a corsair PSU in my HTPC that is nearly 9 years old and still runs beautifully. If you buy a nice PSU expect to keep it for multiple systems.

Also if your draw is only 460 watts buying a 500 watt PSU may not be ideal. Fist off it gives you no room to expand. Second it ensures you are working that PSU at its near max capability at most times lowering the life expectancy of the unit. Finally most PSUs are most efficient in converting power drawn to their output at the 60-80% capacity range.

what ram do you think is suited for this motherboard?

I would grab this set of ram right now as it's the cheapest CL9 set of ram
Same set as mine but grey instead of blue :)

so instead of the 3570k should i get the 3570?

If you don't plan to OC past 4.2ghz stick with the 3570 (because the 3570 can turbo OC to 4.2ghz)
