Right now I am having a hard time deciding between my first multi-gpu setup or a single 7970 GHz edition video card. I have been wanting to get a mutli-gpu setup going for awhile and it's actually less money then a 7970. I was thinking either 7870 GHz CFX or 660 SLi. What do you guys suggest? I already understand the micro-stuttering issues and some games won't be able to work with both cards. I understand that and in terms of being able to play BF3, PS2, etc I will be able to take advantage of crossfire/sli, and in some games I may not, which I'm OK with.

What do you guys suggest in my case? 2x 7850, 2x 7870, 2x 660s?

I want to be able to get better frames than a 680/7970 ghz and I am on a single 24'' monitor running at 1920x1080p. Thanks

how many monitors are you running?

I see in your edit you stated only one. Are you planing to upgrade to more then one?

I am not the most knowledgeable person by any means but seems a tad much for single 60 Hz @ 1080p

What does the rest of the community think?

While 2 7870's do offer more than a nice bit more performance, IF you have an amd processor it is not worth it.
