Radeon 7870 2gb 1200mhz OC
Athlon II 645 3.1 ghz
6GB DDR3 memory (RAM) Dual-kit 2000mhz
CM STORM SCOUT Case
Seasonic MII12 620 W
I couldn't figure out my motherboard spec but its a U-ATX (m-atx) am3 socket

I bought a new 7870 OC grahics card for my new gaming pc. I was doing research looking up stuff, and I saw people playing Battlefield 3 ultra 1920x1080 60+ frames. So when I got this I was super excited, but when I started playing Borderlands 2 on 1600x900 High I was experiencing frames that go from 50 to 20 at not-even-graphics-instensive parts, which was really frustrating. What I want to know is what could be causing this (I suspect old CPU and RAM) and what I should do to fix it (Ex. buy new parts, download a software etc.) BTW; I already went to the website and downloaded that latest

Solution
The CPU is REALLY holding it back. Borderlands 2 is quite a cpu intensive game as it has a lot of particle effects and such. The RAM is fine. If you're upgrading your CPU, which you should, you will also need to upgrade your motherboard as the 645 socket is old and you won't find any good CPU for it. I recommend getting an LGA1155 motherboard with an Intel I5 3570, or if you're on a budget get an I3 3220. And if you're gonna do this upgrade you need to be cautious of the RAM as the 2000mhz on it doesn't have a whole lot of support.
