DELL XPS L702X running slow on games.

Hello, I have a Dell XPS 17 L702X

with 2 GPU, one is Nvidia 555M and the other one is Intel Graphics 3000, both up to date.

When I bought the pc, the games were running smoothly, now they continously lag and they run slow. Please help me anyone? I tried everything I could!

monitor the temps to see if everything is fine.
also try and update all the drivers
ensure your laptop is in high performance mode
disable any auto oc utilities if you have installed them

well also new games require more juice, what games are u running and in what settings thanks.

Well first of all, thank you for your answers.

I have checked the temperature and everything is fine. All drivers are up to date.
The laptop is in high performance, 8 gb of RAM and a i7 2670QM quadcore processor. What's auto OC utilities? I have nothing running on a startup besides mcafee, realtek audio, nvidia settings and quickset.

The issue isn't with the new games, besides that, it's also with the old ones.

Games like Killing Floor, Dead Rising 2 OTR, Dead Island, Left 4 Dead 2, CS Global Offensive.

u dont wanna overclock a laptop, also i meant the gt 555 is slower than new cards coming out in 2012 etc, if everythings up to date i cannot understand whyd ud lag, maybe something wrong with ur hard-drive?

I dunno bro, maybe, how can I check that?

well first defrag it, than do scandisk and fix possible errors, also using a hd diagnostic software tool might help, but im no expert with such programs, id ask a second opinion.

The hard drive is new, I provided DELL replacing it because the old one was faulty. So no possible errors or defrag problems.

hmm than i dont know whats ur problem. possibly something else wrong with the laptop?

you have 2 gpu s...the intel and nvidia.
I want to make sure that you are running games off the nvidia and not the intel gpu.

Ok...if you are sure then...monitor what the temps are using hw monitor.
also check your task manager for how much resources are being used.

Quickset is a program that helps some computers customized buttons to function the way are meant to.

what "monitor the temps are usin hw monitor" means? =S

hw monitor is a software to check the temps of various components of a pc.

so I ran the software, and the temps seems to be normal for all of the components, still can't figure out what is wrong...

lets do the recap, uve defragged ur disk.

uve scandisked it.

uve uninstalled ur drivers. than used driver sweeper.

than did a clean install of ur drivers.

have u talt of backing up ur data and maybe doing a clean install of windows.

whens the last time u gave it a fresh install?

That is correct. I've re installed windows recently. I even chaned the HD.

have u had it serviced to see if theres anything damaged with ur laptop, thats worth a try maybe somethings not working right internally.

Well, I just realized now, one thing, I tried setting the game settings at ultra, and checked the temps. The nVidia it went 96 C, which it is 204 F.

thats pretty warm for a laptop dude, even for a desktop gpu thats hot, thats not good.

i mean laptops heat but 96 is hella hot.

Processor reached almost 100 C 210 F. Max temp for the graphic card is 96. Min 58.

What should I do, It wasn't like this before =(
