what do you guys think about this game?? do you guys think a single card like gtx 670/680 or amd hd 7970 could max out the game in 1080p?? i know the official specs requirements had been released for quite a while, but like crysis 2007, even the single GPU that year can't max out the game

Cant say.but with above gpu you can play at high.really crysis 3 is a monster to gpu.

I'm pretty sure that GTX 670\7970 will handle it on Ultra too.
Because if you have played Crysis 2 and seen Crysis 3 Gameplay, You'll see minor Differences. Just the change in Areas\Story but less difference in Visuals.

This game is not going to be what Crysis was to PCs. Not even close, unless they're including settings far more demanding than what was in the Alpha.

In the Alpha, single 7970s/670s/680s were able to max the game at 1080p and have very playable framerates (35-45fps average depending on your clock speeds). My guess is that performance will be a bit better than that after Nvidia/AMD get a driver update out for the game closer to launch.

And theres so many gpu settings their adding in this time to where you can cut down if need and still have a great experience.
