Hi there,

As of this week, I have:

1 Desktop (XP)
1 Imac G5
and 1 'new' Laptop (XP)

Before the laptop, I've had the PC and Imac in a LAN; Worked sharing files.

To test the laptop, I unplugged the Imac from the LAN, and plugged the Ethernet cable into the Laptop.

-Put the PC and the laptop in the same work-group; worked fine, shared files and internet

Then, I bought another NIC,

-Installed fine
-Installed drivers fine
-All recognized

I plugged both the Imac and the Laptop in,

-Since then, I can only get either 1 to work:

-Disable one of the NIC's = Imac or Laptop works

If both are enabled = Nothing works

No idea, any help would be great,
Joe.

why did you add the second network card?

do you have a router?

-I added the second network card so I could have both the iMac and laptop connected to the pc at the same time.

-No router; connects to the internet via USB ADSL adapter

Using a switch, is it possible to set different access rights to the different computers?

Also, would the set up be like this:

"Desktop PC" (Internet + Files)

into "Switch" via ethernet

and then:

"Switch"

into "Laptop" via ethernet

and "Imac" via ethernet
