Help building a new PC

So its time for me to build another computer, because my current one is a few years old.
I have only looked around a little bit, as I figure you all will know loads more than me. So I'm coming here asking for advise.

Budget Range: $600-$1,200 (I'd like to build something good, but doesnt have to be the latest and greatest)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming mainly, everything else is second.. video, internet, ect..

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Parts to Upgrade: Tower and everything inside, as well as a decent speaker system.

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg.com

Location: Toledo, Ohio

Parts Preferences: I'm open to any really

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080, would be preferred

Additional Comments: I want something that will be able to use 2 monitors, because I like the second (smaller monitor) for apps or whatever. Also, my current PC I can't get the sound to play on any Tv for whatever reason. So I want something that will easilly be able to connect to a TV.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: My current PC is around 3 years old
