This won't play games any higher than low settings.
  5. For gaming, the X51 alienware would do well, so would the hp pavilion, all the others have weak graphic cards that could be easily replaced with a modest radeon 7750. Other than the fact that they are all overpriced and you could save a hundred bucks+ by building your own, they all are are priced in order of their ability.

Mainly Games like Counter Strike, Left for Dead 2, Team fourtress and watching / steaming / burning movies.
  7. Only the bottom alienware will game past medium settings. And, its pretty overpriced.
  8. Alienware X51 - i5-3450 / 8GB DDR3 / 1TB HDD / NVIDIA GeForce GT 545 - I can get this one for 719.99
  9. hmmm, it won't be as good. I would say you should get medium settings with it at 1080p in modern games. The games you listed should run at higher settings because they are older. TF2 should MAX no problem. The problem that most of these computers have low end GPUs.

they all overpriced , but picking a one that overpriced most?
read what he is saying -800$ what about a monitor?
the xps is the easy one to upgrade later, and wife will not even know, when this becomes a nice machine , after replaicing cpu and gpu, that way he spends least for start
  11. Don't forget that that you will also have to replace the PSU for a new GPU. The CPU in the XPS is perfectly fine for gaming and wouldn't need to be replaced.
  12. from this pcs my advice is: buy xps, upgrade video card to 7790(its coming in close future) I think you can also overclock this xps( you can not oc hp),

    Also need to upgrade PSU.
  14. Yah I just want a good base that I can later add a new poer supply and better video card.

No, you don't need the i7 or 16gb or ram for gaming. Plus the gt630 is a joke and won't play games on lowest settings.

OP, look for an i5 maching with 8gb RAM and the best GPU possible. This way you can do some low end gaming now and then upgrade the PSU and GPU later.
