Well there is tons of people saying GTX 670 preforms great almost same as GTX 680 and if OCed better then GTX 680 so it sounds you have a bad card and EVGA is rumored to be the best customer service ever so wont be a problem to get it replaced.

Ok. I got all the stuff done. "Expect 1-2 days" for them to get back to me. I really hope this turns out well. I still have 1002 days left on the default warranty and It's definitely a faulty card so this should go well  

Which temperatures you got with the card ? it might be throttling if it reaches certain temperatures, like more than ~70c.
Also which other games did you play and the fps ?
Did you had the latest nvidia drivers ?

I'm about to build mine this Saturday, so how is that CPU? I'm still between i5-3570k and i7-3770k so not 100% sure which one to get. I want it for games but I multitask a lot while playing at least 5 other programs running.

Nah temps are pretty good. never been over 55c. I only tested borderlands 2 and planetside 2, since none of my other games are very demanding. (mw2 / amnesia / a bunch of source based games) Also OMFG HOW AMAZING WOULD IT BE IF PLANETSIDE 2 RAN OFF THE SOURCE ENGINE OMFG I'D DIE.

Hey man I love mine. It's godly. Hyperthreading actually boosted FPS in all my games by 5 or 10. not really worth the extra 100$ though. If you live near a microcenter though, GET IT. worth it 10/10.


edit: at microcenter you can get it for 249.99 <including tax.

Also it might be the case of putting the card inside a 4x/8x slot instead of the 16x slot, also are you using beta drivers?

I'm using the newest drivers (It gives you a little notification like adobe flash player/java when they update) and I put it in the uppermost slot on my motherboard (ASRock Z77 Extreme4)

Also for some reason, just now PS2 locked itself at 1 fps. had to restart.

try running the system without the card(use the onboard graphics) if the onboard GPU, i also suggest to return the product to EVGA and ask for a new one. Hopefully you would have your product number

I took it out and packed it up for return. HD 4000 graphics are *_*_*_*_*PATHETIC*_*_*_*_*

Can't even max source.... but ATM I can't play any games on intel HD 4K graphics at all because when I launch, it's fine for a couple minutes, settings on low, you know, 80fps, but then it just freezes, and i cant tab out or ctrl+alt+dlt. only solution is to reboot. Tried Counterstrike: Source, Portal 2, Amnesia: The dark descent (great game btw A+), and a few other cheapy MW2 copy free to play games. they just freeze up and lock after about 30 seconds- a minute.

No matter, I'll have a new card soon... What card to get? Was thinking 7970 or 670.... I play planetside 2, ALOT, so the 50$ for that game that comes with an nVidia card would be put to lots of use, but I REALLY want crysis 3..... HMMM. IDUNNO XDDD Suggestions? De-dusted my system seamed to fix it for the most part.... But, just on another note, this has me super worried. When I took out my 670, the little thing on the right side of the X16 slot that holds the plastic tab on the end of the card in place just broke off. almost no resistance. I'm a pretty strong guy but it seemed like it just slid off, like weak metal does when you bend it over and over.. I'm not too worried as the slot is still 100% intact, but it is itching the back of my mind..

Get the 670 evga ftw signature 2 or gigabyte windforce 3x(670 gtx).
For ps2, nvidia cards are better for it, since it's a game powered by nvidia.

What kind of fps would I expect in ps2 in a huge battle, say at the crown, with one of those cards and a 3770k at 4.2 ghz?

That game is poorly optimized, there's no certain fixed quantity of fps that you'll get, even with high end cards.

Like i said, there's no recent benchmarks, but if you'd seen that one, the 7970 performs worse than the 670, which not surprising, since it's a nvidia game.

It's not worth paying the extra for a 680 gtx, the performance difference is negligible(specially with a non reference 670 gtx).

Can you be more specific when it comes to the differences in performance being negligible? every frame counts.

Will still be about the same, you can also overclock the 670 gtx.

When I overclocked my previous 670 I only got ~2 fps from it o3o

Don't expect a huge boost in some games, and it depends on the card, some can overclock past certain frequencies, others don't.

But then again, it doesn't ensure that you'll get the same oc or same fps.

Safe with what ? it's not like the 670 gtx will give low fps and the 680 gtx will give a huge boost.
By the contrary, it's a terrible value the 680 gtx compared with the 670 gtx.

Every frame counts.. if it's the difference between 40 and 45, I'll take it. Also the newest drivers gave more % per boost to the 680 than the 670. still really wanna get my meat wedges on Crysis 3 though...

Still i recommend going with the 670 windforce 3x or the evga signature 2, both got the 680 gtx pcb, with a good cooling system and for less ~80$, you'll get about the same performance.

Yes, i was counting the rebates, well besides those, only from amd, like the 7970, but since you're into ps2, just get either of one of those two.

Yes, it's a good card, though, i'd get the 670 gtx with a dual fan cooling system if your case has good airflow.

My case is the Corsair C70 Arctic white. It has 2 front fans, and 1 back fan. I did cable managing really well, took like 2 hours. so my air flow is pretty good.
