$$$$$ price drop search!!

well next gen graphics are around the corner so if you're on the budget there will be some price drops for AMD 7xxx series and nVidia's 6xx

Yes, March seems to be the next time frame for graphics cards. Intel will be in June, I think....

So this means no price drops this month or next month huh.But looking at it April seems to be an awesome time.Price drop from the new cards+Easter discounts~

Probably won't see significant drops until then.

Well maybe not for you guys In a week or so well be having festival discounts XD and we can also bargain a bit here to   so yeah im a happy guy looking for cheaper cheap things~

We don't see much price competition during Mardi Gras here, the stores are all burned out from the Christmas season. Have fun!

True nvidia is always been a quiet killa they cards form out of no where but march sounds about right

AMD has delayed the shipment of their next-gen cards due to lots of internal personel shuffling/leaving. Nvidia on the other hand has had these "next-gen" card designs since last year and has simply been improving upon them (since their gk107 turned out better than they thought).

I predict Nvidia will sell their 7xx series relatively cheaply (similar to 6xx series), and that would push the prices down on all 6xx series and all AMD cards. should happen right around March/April as others have indicated.

I would also say now's a nice time to hunt down second hand hardware deals as some people will be selling their old cards due to holiday gift upgrades, while others might be selling their holiday presents  

Where do you figure you can pick up a good second hand card? All the deals on fleabay are garbage considering you get 3 new (good) games with a new ATI 7900 series card.

honestly depends on where you live. a lot of my friends are techie nerds so they sell second hand cards pretty often on ebay or amazon but at pretty high prices. Personally I have all the games AMD offer with their cards already so the game codes aren't a huge attraction for me.

You can always hunt down local deals on craig's list or something. or I've been offered decent deals hanging out at microcenter and talking to people browsing the graphics card section  

I just dont trust second hand cards if its not new in package i wont mess with it..Just me tho you never know who overclocked damaged the card or anything..I only trust new hardware in my pcs

I agree 110% and I only buy new cards too.

However, the OP is looking for good deals, and I figured it's worth pointing out that right now is one of the few times in the year where it might be worthwhile to buy a second hand card since people will be selling their perfectly good cards to make room for their christmas upgrade. the other time would of course be right after a new gen of cards come out

Second hand cards are abundent here ~ mostly selling at 50% - 70% than the retail price.Though most of them are older cards   and yeah dont trust hardware thats not new, there are things you cant go cheap on

I've had mixed success on ebay. Always check the feedback and never buy from new sellers. I've gotten some very good deals and all the doa's I've gotten were settled fairly by the sellers so I didn't lose any money. You can probably find hd 6800 and gtx 500 cards for very good prices right now.

I think the current card I have (4870 lol) was bought used and it works like a champ.

Either way. I do agree that the guarantee of a NIB card is nice.
