Does my system need updating

I use my computer for gaming a lot, and want to know if it is worth updating my system. Currently i have core 2 quad q9400, gtx 660ti, 8gb ddr2, on a asus p5k se mobo with 650w PSU. With the release of the ps4 and maybe xbox 720 late this year, is it worth it. My gfx card is pretty good so i could A) buy a good i7 system with a bad gfx card, swap out and sell my old system, or B) buy new mobo ram and cpu? (and possibly PSU?)

The planned upgrade wouldnt be until about 6 months, hopefully new hardware will come out and i can get better value for money.

As for gaming performance, im noticing i cant play games at the highest settings anymore, and with metro last light, grid 2, arma 3, battlefield 4 all coming out this year i want to play them at ultra and outcompete next gen console graphics.

What do you guys think, is it worth it or wait another year?

Not sure what brand, i will open it up later and have a look. I bought this PC 2nd hand 2 years ago, so i'd say at least 3 even 4 years old
