Hi all,

I've had my deskstar 60 about 6 months, recently its staarted getting loud, when I power on, after the initial high pitched spinup sound, when the spinup noise would normally stop and it would normally start the quiet "crunching sound" as it loads the o/s, well the high pitched spinning doesnt go away :( If I set power management to turn off the disks, then it does shup up. I've run ibm's dft and it said no probs, I've also run the thing from ibm that lets you change the acoustic settings but no joy, anyone any ideas? Its like I've put my delta fan back in there :(

If they squeeze olives to get olive oil, how do they get baby oil?

i think your hd has a mechanics issue.
something with the "bearings" under the hd box.

if you know you don't know, the way could be more easy.
