GPU crashing Radeon 6970

Hey everyone, I have been having a problem with my gpu crashing ever since I had my custom PC built for me. I thought I had fixed the issue by switching the gpu to a new slot. So to start with I noticed the case is just a bit too small for my graphics card and when it was built the hdd housing was bent to fit it in (completely different story though)

Anyways, after switching slots on the gpu everything worked fine for about 1 day. I am now getting crashes all the time. Was hoping for some help.

Basically the audio starts repeating and the video freezes for a few seconds and anything I am playing crashes.

Specs: Windows 7 Home 64 bit
I7 960 @ 3.2
8 gigs DDR3
Sabertooth X58 mobo
700W PSU
Radeon 6970 2gb

This is not the same issue I had for the first while. Here is the only thing info I can offer as I am not very tech savy.

  1. Display driver crashed. Likely corrupt.

Driver sweeper your system then reboot and DO NOT allow Windows to do anything with the graphics drivers.

I did this and am still getting the same problem. Any other ideas?
  3. Avoid driver sweeper. Uninstall amd drivers using this method http://www.overclock.net/t/988215/how-to-properly-uninstall-ati-amd-software-drivers-for-graphics-cards then reinstall the driver again (download from AMD website)

Both have reports on the drawback of using sweeper/cleaner programs.
