I am looking for a video card with TV out for my intel 850mv based system. The system uses rdram. Just wondering if there would be any conflicts with a video card with DDR memory??

Also, what is the difference ddr vs. sdram on a video card? I KNOW it's speed -- but I don't use my system for games -- I do use it for desktop publishing/graphic design work.

I want to tv out (svhs is fine) to video tape powerpoints ... I know the quality won't be the same on output from a DV system set up ... but I just need rough tape -- Right now I use a scan converter .... can't imagine the quality could be any lower than that.

One last question ... any way to adapt the 2nd out of the matrox 450 or 550 for TV out??

thanks!

SDRAM is sufficient for your needs.

if its a matrox proprietary connector, its not very easy.
if its a standard DV (or other) you can find an adaptor in a shop.

if you know you don't know, the way could be more easy.

Both G450 and G550 are shipped with an adapter to get TV out of the second monitor.
The adapter provide both Composit and S-VHS out on the same time.

Both ATi (All-in-wonder 7500 or 8500) and Matrox (G550) are to be considered since both offer good DUAL RAMDACs. Both are good products. Avoid GeForce cards (only one RAMDAC for two outputs).

If you do not need the TV tuner, do not get the ATI AIW card, just get the Radeon VE or Radeon 7500, or the Matrox (G550). If you plan on playing any games now or in the future, get the Radeon 7500. The Matrox card is very good, but it uses technology that is 3 years old.

If it works for you then don't fix it.
