IMO that is a good machine for gaming and has good overclock ability with the right cooling, the only thing i would do is adding a SSD for your operating system. I use a 80 Gig SSD for windows and boot times ect are a thing of the past.

needs complete overhaul

get this. 7970 performs better and comes with crysis 3. but if you want a 670, i can suggest one. the ftw isnt that good

psu. no junk. either get a 550w for single GPU operation or a 750w for dual video card operation in the future.

... :pfff: seems to coincide with your motto.

I'm not big on the fractal case... I don't see what the problem with the 922 is. Enlighten me.

What 670 would you reccomend? I'm pretty keen on going with asus and evga or perhaps msi.
Is a 670 even necessary for a single monitor gaming computer? idealy I'd like to be able to play graphic intensive games at 60 fps using ultra settings. Would a 660ti be sufficeint?

I'm still not sure whether it's worth going with the msi mpower or to just get a asus z77-lk or the like. can you shed some light on this? Again, this is purely for gaming and internet surfing...I don't want to spend more money than i need to.

I forgot to mention in the first post that i bought a cooler master 212 cooler, which should keep temps low if i do decide to overclock.

nothing wrong with the 922. just that the arc midi benefits from newer designs that incoporate more cabling room (meaning you dont have to be pro to make the cables fit in the back panel), bigger gromments (for cables to fit through). the arc midi also has slightly thicker panels and much quieter fans

yeah you will need a 670 if you want to do what you just said. or a 7950 from the amd side. the 7970 is even more faster and can play crysis 3 properly

i went with the asus since it has exactly enough connections for most people and is priced very well. the mpower in sense is better than the LK since it has been individually validated, but its not that important unless you overclock. and the Lk already overclocks rather well so the mpower isnt really for your usage scenario

Okay, so I've decided to go with a msi z77-g45 for the mobo rather than the asus z77-lk or mpower.

So using the z77-g45 with a hyper 212 cooler for my i5-3570k, what 670 gpu and ram would you reccomend? The ram that you suggested isn't on sale on ncix canada so if you could make a reccomendation using ncix.ca, that'd be swell :).

the g45 is crap. nuff said.

you should have said in the beginning of everything that you are in canada. holy crap its annoying. argh!!. anyways, back on track

CPU and mobo combo

ram. ncix has it. use this link for price matching

lol yeah my mistake... Thanks for the info, although, I think you're wrong about the g45 but I'll have to do my due dilligence.

Ram seems good.

gpu - the evga ftw has a higher clock rate but according to reviews it lacks the cooling compared to the gigabyte so it's def. worth considering.

Thanks again for your help!

cheers
