Duel Monitors

I just built a computer a few weeks ago and I really have been wanting to set up a duel monitor. I have 1 dvi and 1 vga port in my graphics card (Radeon AMD HD 6800) and 1 vga port in my motherboard so I didn't think it would give me much trouble. The problem is, any monitor plugged into the vga port in the motherboard or the dvi port in the card are completely unreadable by the computer. All the drivers are up to date on all my hardware. I have been troubleshooting for a while and am completely stuck in a dead end. Thanks in advance for your time.

P.S. I know that this doesn't exactly fit under the AMD Radeon subcategory but it was the most relevant one under Graphics & Displays I could find.

I don't believe that you can use both the one on the video card and also the one on the motherboard at the same time.

Would it be possible if I used a dvi - vga adapter on the video card for the second monitor?
