As the title says id really appreciate some suggestions for a cpu cooler.
My set up is
ROG Ramapage iv gene motherboard
corsair vengeance 4x4gb ram
intel i7 3820 processor
corsair 2013 gaming series 800w
sapphire hd7970 gfx
I really appreciate any advice or suggestions.
Performance beats style every time. Specially when you aren't even going to see it. Case LED's are for teenagers anyways.
This was childish. I was simply stating my opinion.
This whole thing really depends on how much this thing is going to be OC'd, or OC'd at all? At stock speed these monster $80 and up coolers are stupid, like using a sledge hammer to kill a house fly.
If your planning on a 4.7-4.8 GHz OC I could see spending upwards of $100 on a CPU cooler.
I have an i5 OC'd to 4.5 with a Coolermaster V8 and my temps never get over 65-68 degrees C.
Personal preference in looks always plays a role in what components Builders buy like it or not you don't want your system you spent loads on and time, money, and effort programming to look like the leftover shelf at a Microcenter.
If you have low profile Corsair Vengeance RAM installed on Rampage IV Gene motherboard, then you will not have clearance issues with the ZALMAN CNPS12X or Noctua NH-D14 coolers recommended by tiny voices and hillmanant. But if your RAM is not, I would recommend this cooler, ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX:
A coolermaster hyper 212evo will cool just as well as those $70 zalmans. Its pretty common knowledge to get a coolermaster hyper 212 evo and then if you really want something better, get the noctua I posted. Its easily the best air cooler.
