Hi, I need help with my PC. I built it about two weeks ago and it has been running fine, extremely fine. It was been working perfectly and then all of a sudden it isn't. It has all of a sudden began using 100% of the hard drive on the task manager processes even with no applications open. I can make sense of this all I can think of is that their may be a fault with the hardrive or maybe a virus...... I don't know, can I get some suggestions please.

Hard drive is a western digital caviar green, os is windows 8 64bit.

Run a disk check. Right click the hard drive in windows, click properties, click the tools tab, and click "Check now..." under Error-checking. Also feel your hard drive to see if its overheating.

Why would you buy a caviar green drive? those things run at 5900RPM built for slow data backup hard drives eg in non-priority servers.

anyway yes, it shouldn't be doing that despite being an inherently slow drive, as frisbee has already said do an error check.
