Okay, so im building my first computer and am learning everything about them in the process. I basically just want to know what the title says.

I currently looking at a GIGABYTE GV-R787OC-2GD Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition and wasnt sure if this would work. Im assuming it does but like i said this is my first computer im building and im just now learning about this stuff. if this isnt good enough can someone tell me what is? thanks

I know this will start an idiotic flame war but if you're going to play Border Lands 2 why don't you buy an nvidia card so you can take advantage of all the game has to show..... meaning physx?

and don't think it doesn't add anything to the game. google it to get your answer don't listen to one sided stories. lots of side by side vids out there.

Your system is fine but the CPU will bottleneck the card although it will probably still be playable. You can get an aftermarket CPU cooler and overclock your CPU if you want to reduce the bottleneck.

i5-3470 and H77 motherboard if you're not into CPU overclocking.

If you want to overclock the CPU, get an i5-3570K and a Z77 motherboard. Also, make sure to get a decent CPU cooler as well like the Cooler Master Hyper 212+/EVO

If you still want to go AMD, then an 8350 is your best bet for a gaming cpu. The Intel equivalent is in the 3570k range. Personally, I have a 3570k and use a 6870 and I can max out Borderlands 2 at 1080p. That game is about 75% CPU heavy and the rest relies on the GPU.
