Hey all,

I am new here, and my topic will be, is this a good build? I mainly use my computer for script writing, video editing (Vegas pro 12 and after effects), along with some web surfing.

Here are the parts:

Intel Xeon E3-1245 or E3-1270 (Is this better than i7 for the price?)

ASUS P8B WS or ASRock Z77 Pro3

Cooler Master Hyper 101 RR-H101-22FK-RI

XMS3 Series 16GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800)

Zotac ZT-20313-10L

Antec DF-30

Zalmam zm850-hp

Seagate 1TB Hard drive 7200rpm

LG 24x Super Multi Internal DVD CD Drive

Vantec 4 port firewire Host card

So, is this a good build? Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thank you

What is you budget? Also I would invest in a board that has built in firewire so you don't take up slots so a better GPU can be put in place. The GPU you have listed I don't believe is suitable for video editing. Also, if you ARE indeed on a budget. AMD cpus will be more up your ally with the same frequencies and more cores.

Edit: correction, your board already has firewire, i would go for a board with USB 3.0 since its faster
