I am looking at upgrading my graphics card, and I want great performance for WoW, but I'm not sure how much more performance a 660 will have over a 560

More about : gtx 560 660

About 40-50% across the board. It's well-worth the money.

The 560 should be sufficient for 1920x1080 ultra settings in WoW, even during 25 man raids. You won't be able to run AA and full AF though. The main question is what CPU do you have? This will be a huge factor for performance in WoW. The 660 is a better GPU but likely won't make too much difference for your needs.

That's a flimsy CPU for playing MMOs if you're raiding.
You'd be better off upgrading CPU/mobo if you have DDR3 RAM in your current rig.

CPU: Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($149.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard: ASRock H77M Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $219.98
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

It will work but definitely bottleneck in some games. If you're at 1080p resolution you can probably get away with it.

Not much room to OC on an Athlon II but unlocking the 4th core would be a good idea if your chip will unlock.

If your current GPU is crap it's probably worth the upgrade even if your CPU may bottleneck some.

If you want to see a big performance increase... keep your gtx 560 and get a new CPU + mobo + ram... If you want to throw away $200-$240 for very little performance gain buy the gtx 660. Your CPU is holding you back in WoW not your graphics card.

    Get this IMO

I'm pretty sure WoW only uses 2 cores... If it can use a quad then try to get the i5 3470, same mobo and ram.

yes, the 965 and the 560. do that. the athlon you have would bottleneck a 560 or 660 anyway. it will be a well balanced system then.

Ok so you have no video card right now?
and that motherboard is an AM3+ chipset so you can get a FX-4300, FX-6300, or FX-8320/8350.

    What is your total budget?

I would not buy a gtx 560... they are way overpriced for the performance they give I thought you already had the 560 and where thinking about upgrading to the 660... I believe the gtx 660 is about 50%-100% faster than the 560... and only costs like 20% more.

I would say get the GTX 660 now, then save up $140 ish and get a FX-6300... Or save up $100 and get the phenom II 965BE, Although in the long run you will be better off with the FX-6300.

Yes if your board is Am3+ then FX-6300+660 would be great, you could of course just get the 660 then save up for the FX-6300 which is the way I would go since you maybe satified with the boost from the card alone. If not upgrade your CPU.

Go with the 660, better temps, clocks, and less power hungry. Its like comparing a GTX 570 to a 670 go with the new generation and you most likely wont need to upgrade in the future until the 760 comes out :)

Most new games will use as many cores as your CPU has. If WoW is the only game you play then that isn't a problem (i believe it still only uses 2, although i might be wrong).

Only issue going with the Phenom now is that when you do start playing other games, your first upgrade needed would be your CPU again. I think your best option is to buy the GTX 660 now then get a FX-6300 when you can afford it.

Also the FX starts at 3.5 to 4.1 "boost" the phenom @3.4 while you can overclock it it random chance if it can run at 4.0+ stable (though I think most can). Again get the card see how WoW play if you don't like it you can upgrade the CPU to the 965 or FX.

The gtx 560 is not much cheaper than a 660 and its A LOT slower... The gtx 560 is about $170. The GTX 660 is $210-$230. So for 25% more money you can get 50-75% more performance by going with the GTX 660.

Yes get the 660 for now it will have the larget gain worry about the processor in the future at that point you may want to change platforms or since its AM3+ could be new release of AMD process that able to use the Am3+ since AMD tends to reuse slots more than intel.

I have seen some reports here the 4X000 AMD parts are just as good, or better for, gaming than the higher rated 6x000 and 8x000 as well as some i5 chips.

That may be a good option.

IMO it is worth it to get the slightly overspec'd 660 and be able to access the additional power when you up grade your CPU.
