Laptop will not open links

Hello,
My laptop suddenly stopped opening hyperlinks. I noticed when googling and got to a white page that said it could not open and had "doubleclick" in the error message. So, I am assuming I somehow have some virus, although I'm not sure how, since it worked fine the day before, and the only sites I was on the day is my work email (secure) and my online school (secure). Didn't even check gmail. I ran spybot and asqaured and didnt find anything. Any suggestions to fix would be very appreciated!

Try Google Chrome web browser.
It might be a problem just with Internet Explorer.
