Hello,

I recently bought the ASUS HD6990 and I think it doesn't performs like it must to be.
When I startup BF3 it crash, but doesn't give an error code or something.
Only option is to shut down the system with the power button.
Also when not playing games the screen sometimes dissappears in black and cant do nothing.
Maybe it is something with the drivers because when i want to install something with CCC install manager the system crash to when it is in the analyzing fase.
Because I first installed the drivers from the CD and now want to install the newer drivers but each time it is in the analyzing fase my system just crash.
Don't know if it's a hardware or software problem.
Just want to know if there's someone els who had the same problem or just know's what to do about it.
Maybe it's something with the CF because it's a dual GPU and don't really now how to enable it in windows, think it works auto?
I'm just so frustraded that I bought such a good GPU and it doesn't work correctly.

Really hope i get some good advice or suggestions,
Thanks and sorry for my english

Control panel > programs and features > uninstall drivers > reboot > download drivers from amd > install

That should do it. And you need to enable xfire manually I think. Its in catalyst once you get that working.

Oh so it also crashes when you try and uninstall it? That does make this a bit trickier. Hmmm, has this ever worked properly before? When did this problem occur? Trying to nail down what caused it.

Just to be sure you are connecting the monitor tot he video card? (multiple times I have been on hugely long topics and they were trying to install amd drivers using the onboard video)

Do you have your old card. If so try putting that back in and see if it works if it does then it must be the new GPU. I'm wondering if your PSU is at fault. I personally haven't heard of engine pro as a brand. I googled and didn't find much info. How much did you pay for the pSU?

You might try booting into safe mode, and then doing the catalyst install from downloaded drivers (NOT from the CD). Once you get the install to work, you can go back through and do an uninstall to clean up the garbage, and then reinstall the working ones.

Is it safe to assume that:
1) Your PSU is of adequate quality? Cheapo-brands tend to be over-spec'd.
2) The correct aux power connectors are plugged into your HD 6990.
3) Your monitor is plugged into your HD 6990 and not the motherboard.
4) You have tested your RAM for errors.
5) You are using a genuine copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and not Windows Vista Ultimate x64, a cracked copy, or something else.
6) The HD 6990 you have is new, and not something you bought used from someone else.

Splendid
Don't install drivers from CD. Old, old, old and BF3 had MAJOR issues.

Method:

1) Download Driver Fusion HERE.
2) Download Catalyst 12.11 beta11 drivers HERE. but don't install.
3) Download Catalyst 12.11 CAP 2 HERE
4) Custom uninstall all AMD software through Control Panel, select everything and reboot.
5) Run Driver Fusion and clean AMD display drivers - reboot.
6) Re-install CCC and reboot.
7) Install the CAP profile and reboot.

I have Lucid Virtu MVP and on my i5 3570k Intel HD 4000, but that isn't in use.
But maybe it makes some conflicts together why my HD6990 doesn't work properly?
Uninstall Virtu will help?

Maybe There's a problem with my Virtu MVP, because;

1) It just won't open, when I click on it in my start menu there's nothing on my screen.
2) This is what stands in my Local C: disk(perflogs, program files(x86),windows...);
A text document called lucid, and in it stands this;

TID:3300, 01/12/13, 19:52:09, GpuEnumerator.cpp:555 - Warning code: 10968
TID:3300, 01/12/13, 19:52:09, GpuEnumerator.cpp:555 - Condition: (((NTSTATUS)(ntStatus)) >= 0), D3DKMTOpenAdapterFromDeviceName failed

Only software that's in Control Panel is ASUS SmartDoctor and AMD Catalyst Install Manager.
Is there nothing els that I should Uninstall?

RussK1

Splendid

Just AMD drivers... Smart Doctor is fine. BTW, Virtu MVP doesn't work with BF3 since the latest patch and causes it to crash during loading. Disabling HyperFormance and Virtual Vsync fixes it for me.

**also there is an option to enable CF for apps that have no associated app profile via CCC**

Thank you guys, reinstalled drivers and after that with driver fusion.
So now it works just one question,
When playing battlefield, crysis, assassins creed, the CF of my HD6990 is on? isn't it?
Don't see an option in the CCC to enable it but with hardware under information it has Primmary adapter and Linked adapter,
with each one stands a GPU(hd6990).
So very very thankyou all.
