Big FPS loss in BF3 multiplayer

Hi, my specs are

i7 920 @ 3.0GHz
Asus P6T Deluxe
3GB 1x3 DDR3 1333MHz RAM
Gainward ATI HD4870x2
Win8 32bit
1000W PSU
Antec 1200

I get around 50fps on Ultra in BF3 (MSAA off, 4xAA, SSAO) singleplayer, where the areas are smaller and there isnt stuff going on, but when i turn on the multiplayer, the framerate, especially on 64 player maps, goes to like 25-30 and i have to lower it to High and still get only like 40FPS.

Do you think it is because of the 3GB ram? Im running 32bit Win 8 (screw Windows Upgrader, i went from 32bit Vista). Do you think getting the disk copy of the 64bit Win8 and upgrading RAM to 6GB/12GB will make any difference? Or is it the CPU that does this, or plain GPU power is missing?

Thanks in advance

In today's world of technology 3GB is no longer sufficient for use in games, I would suggest 8GB's of ram and a upgrade to 64 bit windows also if you wanna be more future proof then get 16GB which is only about $80-90.

lga1366 support tripple channel memory so its better to get 6gb of ram and not 8gb of ram:)

6gb is more than enough. i have 6gb in my system and while i am playing bf3 and recording it and have some chrometabs open my ram use less than 4,5gb.. for gaming 6gb is fine!

His CPU easily runs BF3, even my i3 3220 only uses about 75-78% at the most while playing bf3

personally i would OC to at least 3.5ghz, add more ram at least 6gb in your case,

and also, research, how is the scaling of xfire for BF3 for your card? i have a friend with 5870 xfire and runs bf3 just fine. he's limited with 1gb of gpu ram but it runs fine according to him.

your 4870 is also 1gb? as reference, my 670 2gb runs on ultra, and ~1.7gb is eaten raw when on ultra

Mine is dual GPU single card with 2x1GB, OCed a bit. Dont wanna OC stuff too much though, so i got a bit on the CPU and a bit on the GPU. Ill probably get 6GB, as my monitor is 1680x1050 and i dont plan on running multiple stuff at a time or do RAM-heavy stuff.

Thanks guys
