Hi guys,

I'm looking to get into surfing but I need some suggestions for a board.

Honestly I have a small car so I won't be able to fit anything above 7ft and I'd even be lucky to get a 7 footer into the car, and that's stretching diagonal from boot to dashboard across most of the seats.

I'm thinking of a foamie or a funboard but I really don't know.

Any tips for a beginner? And which board should I get?

You can buy surfing board in your local surf shop or on the internet. If you want to have a little bit something more progressive, still easy to surf, you might want to buy yourself a long board. But as your small car, you can move down to short boards (did you try to fix your board on the top of car? ). Generally speaking, if you go to local surf shop, they will ask for your height, your size, how long you have been surfing, and what you can actually do along the wave. Then pick board by these parameters. You can check this surfing board online. Hope that helps you. And enjoy your suring time.

You can't find a short board. All surfing boards are fixed size. The only thing you can do is put it in the top of your car.

You can't get a quick panel. All searching planks usually are fixed dimensions. One and only thing that can be done will be place it inside the prime of the car or truck.

The longer the board the easier it is to learn. The big foamy boards like Boogy board are soft and will not hurt you if you get hit with it. However they are slow due to the flex, you will notice this as you get better and better. Perhaps the best thing to do is get a second hand one(and wear a rash guard ) then as you get better get the traditional resin/foam board. You will learn faster by picking up the basics.. How are you at skateboarding? If you say you are not good at skatboardig don't worry, I wasn't and surfing is much different... The wave moves, concrete doesn't. I'm not saying as kater can't be a good surfer, only my experience.

I've been surfing for 40 years and remember learning as if it were yesterday. The easy part was standing up for the first time but going down the wave took me about 6 months...Then I was addicted.... Enjoy and keep us posted
