SLi or Corssfire or Single ? for 120 hz

hello guys i have a question just to be precise i have single gpu 6950 2gb sapphire shall i make crossfire for 120 hz monitor cuz i know a single 6950 won`t be good on 120 hz monitor and it wont show the smoothness of 120 hz but the question is (is 6950 CF still a good deal till our day? ) or shall i go for SLI 660 for example?

I5 3570k
ASUS P8 Z77 V-PRO
8GB MEM
6950 SAPPHIRE 2GB
750watt Cougar
1920*1080 B2330 monitor (to be changed to Samsung SA23700D) 3D

please guys i need help 6950 CF or 660 SLI or probably a single 6950 is fair enough for 120 hz monitor

Well, if you buy that particular monitor, you are going to want to stick with AMD, as it is an HD3D monitor, not a 3D Vision one.

For 120hz, you need some power, or you have to lower settings. Nvidia cards have less microstuttering, and better 3D support, so I'd recommend going that route, but I wouldn't SLI with 660's, at least go to 660ti or better. Or a single 670 or better.

so basically Single 670 is sufficient for 120hz?
what about a second 6950 i saw some reviews it goes up till 80+ for BF3 for instance 1080p hbao and all maxed ? or u think 6950 is outdated now for a crossfire?

Honestly i have no idea about microshuttering is it worth getting the 670 ? i mean is it that bad for games ? games become unplayable ?

For the moment i can only afford single 670 so is it a good deal?

im playing FPS games not much of 3D user but ofc i ll try Movies for 3D That`s what i meant

Getting the 670 is going to be your best single card solution for your issue. As far as the 6950's in CF goes, you might see some microstuttering you will have lower minimum FPS but higher average than the 670 for the most part. The single GTX 670 will give you a better gaming experience.

I bought my monitor with the same idea, but ended up liking 3D a lot. Though if you do competitive FPS, 3D probably isn't a good idea at those times.

Here in Egypt the market has only the 700 D all other brands drained from the Market once they had been in Stores i dont have other choice except Samsung 700D so

what am i going to do then ? to make a mid point between Efficient 3D and Good performance what should i get ?

Economically it would be magnificent .Yes, but i`m afraid of the performance of such games ( BF3 MULTIPLAYER-FARCRY3-SKYRIM) and what lower minimum means ?

u mean my bottom could reach 10 fps for example :O ? and if i got 2nd 6950 i may be got better monitor like 950d From samsung 27inch

Lower minimums doesn't mean crippling minimums. It is hard to say how you will enjoy it. Some people are more sensitive to microstutter and low minimums than others.

If you can purchase a 6950 with a good return or exchange policy, that might be the best way to go.

it seems i`m now preferring between (660 SLI to stand against microstuttring problem or to get single 7970)

Just remember, if you go 660 SLI, you lose the 3D gaming option, though I think it may still work for movies using the HDMI hookup.

i would never recomend building a pc with sli in mind. get a good single card now, then in a few years you might think about sli'ing. i guess thats what you were going to do with the 6950? micro stuttering is just a brief moment between frames. it hapends inside of a fps, just a little bump in the smoothness i guess. lets say your geting 100 fps. a microstuttering issue would skip 1 or 2 of those frames, but the fps will not drop because a second is so long. its hardly visable on the gtx cards, but aparently amd cards are quite visable. one great card is ALWAYS > 2 crappy cards.

I ll go for 660 Sli but i ll wait for a second hand 3D vision monitor or maybe a brand new one to be released in markets here in Egypt that supports 3D vision but

but i think 680 Dosen`t make the worthy difference over 670 only 5 or 7 at most fps

so if i choose a single card maybe 670 it is

U make a good point , i always thought of but single card most of them now at least till 680 give only average 60 to 70 fps in most intense games its like no use of 120HZ then cuz u should get above 80 to feel the difference of 120 HZ monitor so maybe i ll get yes a single 670 and then i ll get a second one if i feel weak against upcoming games
