Hi,

I'm in the market for a new computer that will be able to run most modern games. After doing some research, I decided its probably best for me to source the parts and build it myself. I understand how computers work, I'm just a little lost when it comes to current specs.

So basically I want to build a gaming pc, and I need a little advice as to what parts to buy. I'm looking to spend around $800CAD if possible.

- 750 watt power supply http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3276567&sku=ULT-LSP750

- Tower http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3828299&sku=H702-0025

- 1TB HD http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3303660&sku=T24-9901

- Blue Ray burner http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7628487&sku=P725-3610%20OEM

- 8GB memory kit http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=40739&sku=C13-5720

- Radeon HD 7870 GPU http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2318242&sku=P450-7871

- Gigabyte MB http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2932738&sku=G452-8442

- I5-3570K CPU

Total = $940 with shipping

Like I said, I'm a little behind on specs. How does this stuff look. Is there anyway I can save a bit of money here?

First of all - Ultra makes garbage power supplies, the words "cheap junk" don't begin to accurately describe them.

Second the i5-3570K won't work with a socket AM3+ motherboard. What is your budget? I could suggest a better system if I knew that.

Also if you're buying a blu ray burner keep in mind that the playback software is not included and costs an extra $100 a license. Drop that and add more to your video card.
