Hi Folks ...

We just changed to new cell phone company and received new Nokia phones
with the account.

I'm trying to clear out everything on our old Nokia 5190s we have before
donating or recycling.

New accounts are already activated and old phones have been deactivated
and show no service.

Did some searching online and googled old newsgroup posts on how to
remove your own number.

I found the following information and tried this code:

*#7370#

Which is code for full factory reset for the Nokia 5190.

When I went back into settings and looked at "own number", the phone
number still shows.

Is there any way to get "own phone number" out of the Nokia 5190
settings?

Hi,

I think the own number reads from the sim card, try the other sim in it
and see if it is a different own number.

Nokia 5190 has no internal memory. There is nothing to clear out.
Remove the SIM card and you can sell, donate or recycle the phone and
there won't be a thing on the phone to link it to anyone. Your number
is stored on your SIM.

If your SIM is in the phone of course it will show that! Remove the
SIM and there will be nothing identifying as anyone's number in it.
All the subscriber information is in the Subscriber Information Module
(SIM.)

Of course it is a different SIM! The number associated with an
account is on the SIM!

Swapped sim cards and sure enough, numbers swapped.

So out they come and we'll donate or recycle.

Thanks much everyone for your kind responses!
