Well, this post relates to my post right under it, but I thought I'd break the two up.
I'm currently awaiting the arrival of my new system hardware: a soyo dragon+ mobo, athlon xp 1700 cpu, and some ddr ram.
my question is that since i'm currently using a pIII on an intel mobo with some outdated ram, running win2k, will i need to backup my data reformat my HDD and reinstall the OS when my new mobo, cpu ,etc arrives? or is there any process to getting around this easily?
thanks again,
-kevin.

Best to do a clean install. Back-up all your critical stuff, and copy it to your new set-up.

The old mobo/CPU config will cause hassles with the new.

Theoretically, it should adapt to your new environment and work with it. However, it is recommended that you format and reinstall, giving your system a fresh start and eliminating many conflicts.
