Safe to plug in PCI power when computer was running?

January 16, 2013 5:08:11 PM

Hey there. Stupid mistake. I forgot to plug the PCI 6 and 8 pin power cables into my graphics card. I'm returning it, and forgot when I took it out of the case to uninstall the drivers. So I quickly without thinking put it back inside the case without plugging in the power, and turned on the computer. My computer is set to sleep with the power button, and I didn't want to unplug the power cord. I plugged the PCI power cables into the card while it was running, and then pressed my restart button and got to the desktop as usual. Was there a possibility I could have damaged my mobo or anything else? I'm returning the card anyways, so I know the possibility of damage to the card had to be there. I don't mind, just as long as it didn't hurt anything else. Everything seems to run fine I guess..
