Hi everyone,

My current build is very old using a Core 2 Duo at 2.2 Ghz, with 4 GB RAM at 1333 Mhz and a 9600 GSO 512. I mostly use my computer to surf the internet, listen to music and mostly MMO Gaming as well as other games (Batman AA, Crysis, Diablo III and so on).

Budget is very low (between $250 to $400 at most) and have been looking into the A10-5800K APU option, but I was wondering if it would actually be better then my current build and want an honest opinion from the forums.

This is the setup I'm working on:

AMD A10-5800K
ASRock FM2A75 Pro4-M
G.SKILL Ripjaws (2x4GB) DDR3 1866 Mhz

This is just to begin with, I'm looking into buying a new PSU, Case and HDD in the long run and just use the ones I have from my old build for the time being.

The first thing would be the PSU later on because the one I have is a replacement and is not 80 Plus Certified :??: .

Anyone's thoughts would be gladly appreciated.

Well Lets take a look at some of the benchmarks here...

As far as the processors go The apu processor would be a huge improvement on the core 2 duo. as seen here.

the 9600 gso is pretty dated. I believe the Apu's integrated graphics can be compared to about a Hd radeon 6670. I cant find much info on the 9600. But from what i read just the integrated graphics in the APU will be better then the 9600. Also when you get more money. you can add a 6670 if you choose and the processors integrated graphics will crossfire with it.
However, you can add a better gpu and the processor will just act like a decent processor.

your Ram would be faster so that is good. all in all, i think it would be a decent budget start for you.

Get faster ram. The apu works really good with faster ram unlike other processors. Here's some ddr3-2400ram.
