Well this is my first build and not even really sure that i would need a discrete graphics card. I have this mobo
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=M5A88-M-BO-R and has Radeon HD 4250 integrated chipset. I have a mATX box so i cant go anything to big. Here is the thing I dont game or plan to game at all other than iRacing once in a rare while. I will be doing a little photo and video editing, but again not much. What would you guys recommend for me?

What's your budget for the graphics card? I would suggest you to get a GTX 660 for about $100 or a ATI HD6670 for $90. Both cards would have more than enough power your needs.

If you're only doing gaming sometimes, I would suggest you look into the 650ti ($130 ish), or the 7770 for about $110 [650ti is better but costs more]. A larger budget can net you a 7850 1GB for about $150+. The 7750 and 650 are also options that come in at about $90.
What CPU are you using so we can get a sense of what would match it?

Why are you planning to upgrade anyway?

You give no indication of a requirement (you don't really game or do serious photo/video editing).

Other than improving that one game that you play, I'm not sure what else will improve.

So why not just use the ONBOARD GRAPHICS?

I'm Running the amd fx6300. Im not too sure as to how the integrated chip would do. Since I'm in the build process I figure I would throw in a decent card just in case the integrated chip would chipnot be up to par.

OP list your full system specs and your maximum budget, FX cpus are weak but it will do. Have you already purchased these parts, bc if not id go for a 1155 i3 build...

the integrated chip is not going to be up to par, trust me. We need to know your entire build as well as your budget before anyone can submit a decent answer. If you provide crap info then you get a crap answer.

Asus M5A88 mobo
Amd fx6300 cpu
8gb g.skill ripsaw ram
Corsair 430w psu
WD caviar green 2tb hdd
Matx case

My budget for a video card is around $100, willing to pay a little more if needed but would rather stay under $100.

With only $100 to work with I think the 7750 and the 650 will be your best options at about $80-90. You cna pick up a 6670 for $50-60 if you don't care much about eye candy
