Different Video card installation?

This might be a dumb question but I was wondering if its possible to put 2 different video cards on the same computer. My reason of doing so is I have a Dual nVidia 250GTS from an old computer and I put them in my new computer now. I have a friend who wants to buy one from me. But im planning to buy a newer high end nVidia card just one. I have 3 monitors btw. I want to run 2 of my monitors on the side the monitors and use the newer nVidia card on have one dedicated for gaming n stuff. I have a sabertooth 990FX with an AMD 8350FX 8 core.
