I recently bought this drive and although very good in operation, it has RPC2 firmware. I want to make it region free but I do not know the original drive manufacturer (I suspect it is a rebadged player). The distributor is Kobian, a Chinese/Indian company (www.kobian.com), but they don't even list the drive as one of their products on their site.Windows 98SE identifies the drive as "IDE DVD-ROM 16X", but that means nothing really.

if anyone knows ANYTHING about these drives, please let me know.
