First let me say that I am NOT a gamer and I do NOT do CAD or anything else 3d that I can think of. I mostly use Office productivity apps, watch online videos and occasionally use Paintshop Pro to edit graphics. I currently have 3 monitors (each 24” 1920x1200) and my system handles this poorly (one Nvidia PCIe and one Nvidia PCI card). Whenever I move windows from screen to screen it frequently catches and jerks and I hate that.
I am about to buy a Dell Precision T7600. I selected this model because of some HD considerations unavailable in other models. When it comes to selecting the Graphics Cards I have options and I want to get some advice. The Dell system as spec’d includes “Dual 512 MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 300, QUAD MON”. I don’t mind upgrading if someone can tell me why I would want/need to. The next option up is “Dual 1.0GB NVIDIA Quadro 600, Quad MON”.
I consider myself to be very tech savvy, I just don’t know much about video cards.
1) Can someone tell me what advantages I would see by increasing to 1GB RAM and by going to the 600 chipset?
2) I always thought Video Memory was a requirement for higher resolution monitors but, if less memory supports my three 1920x1200 monitors, do I benefit from having more memory on the card?
