Recently, i have been trying to play AOM over the net to my friend, when we
first tried it, to connect directly to my IP address it wouldn't do it. So i
canceled that host game, and tried again, except this time it brought up an
IP address and an alternate IP address in the top left corner, when we tried
the alternate (which was completely different) it worked straight away.

Now we are trying to play again, and cannot get that alternate IP address to
come up, is there something i can do so its always there, or someway to know
of it? Please help we really want to play!

Are you directly connected to the Internet or are you using a router?

I am connected to a router, but the other computer i want to connect to is
connected directly to the net, and is not in the router. He is in a
completely different house not connected to me at all.

I had the same problem about a year ago.

You will have to add the following to the shortcut to AOM.EXE

OverrideAddress=XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX

You will replace the X's with your external IP address which you can get
from www.whatismyip.com

I am doing this from memory so; you may want to google something like this:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%2B%22IP+Address%22++%2B%22Age+of+Mythology%22+%2B%22Router%22+%2B%22Shortcut%22

I am at work so I could not verify any of the web pages on the search.

Hope this helps

Wade
