My son wants to play 2 games Stronghold Crusaders and Empire Earth but, we
can't get them to play . When I tried to uninstall both games I get error "
the supported file could not be installed, could not find file". They do show
up in my add/remove programs and when I do a search they are there. Therefore
I want to just uninstall them and reinstall them and maybe that would work.
Can anyone tell me how to go about this?

Thanks

Hi Patty,

Congratulations - Yours is the first post on my Birthday! :-)

Here's how to uninstall a game when using Add-Remove programs fails:

Step A: Start your computer in Safe Mode by holding down the F8 key.

Step B: Reinstall the game to the same folder it was installed to originally,
and then try to uninstall it again using Add-Remove programs. If
that fails, delete it's folder and any save games in My Documents.

Step C: Install and Run Regcleaner and if it finds any stray registry keys for the
game, delete them: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download460.html

Hi Patty,

Thank you for the birthday wishes. :-)

Well, another way to go about it without using RegCleaner would be
to restore your system to a date prior to when you installed the games.

How to use Windows XP System Restore:

Here is a error code I got from microsoft
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318485

My son has played this game before so I know my video adapters support
direct 3d so now how do I
Verify that your video adapter supports Direct 3D, and then verify that you
are using the most current drivers for your video adapter?
Thanks

Try use F5 to start in safe mode instead, that works for me, maybe because
its a different version or language of windows installed.
