I recently bought a new graphics card, the sapphire ati radeon hd 7850, and am experiencing black screens when playing games. Is it possible that the card is not getting enough power?

PC Specs:
4gb RAM
AMD Phenom ii x4 850 3.3ghz
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 7850 2gb
650w PSU (not sure of the make)
Native resolution 1920x1080

Is it only happening in one game? or all games? check the make of your psu. Some cheap brands of 650w psu may only put out 350w continuous, their rating is a "peak" power rating and often doesnt supply enough juice to the 12v where its needed. Also make sure you update your drivers.

I was just thinking, when I installed my new CPU fan I accidently put my finger in the thermal paste but still installed it, could it be the CPU over heating because the thermal paste is jacked? Better graphics means more stress on CPU?

check the temps of your cpu with hwmonitor.

I just played left 4 dead 2 in 1920x1080, black screened after about 2 minutes. It seems that playing in the correct resolution for my screen is making me black screen.

Today I black screened again, in rage I swapped graphics cards with my old one. In the process of replacing my graphics I got my power supply name, it is a cheap 500w atx one, and the cable I used to connect up to my graphics card had burnt out. My mum works at a big company and she says that she can get the technicians to find an old power supply for me.
