Connecting Wifi router

Hi!
Here is my situation, I am connected to the internet using a Wuawei wireless USB modem connected to my desktop computer(no other type of service available) I would like to set up a Wifi home network so that I can connect using Wifi to all of the other gadget that I have in the house. So the question is can I connect a Wifi router using a ethernet cable comming from my desktop computer? and if so what router would you recommend for this application?
