So i am a bit new to this site. This is potentially my new gaming system:

Processor: Intel i7 3770k (3rd gen) 3.5ghz quad core
CPU Cooling: Noctua NH-D14
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB
Power Supply: Corsair 850AX Gold Series
Solid State Drive: Samsung 840 Pro 256gb
Hard Drive: Seagate Barricuda 2TB Sata 3 64mb 6.0gb/s

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth z77
Video Card: Asus Nvidia Titan 6gb

What do you guys think?

Sadly, but not surprisingly, this has gone way over my initial budget of $1300. Then when i heard about the GTX690 and the Titan, I increased my budget to $2000. This system costs $3000! I am thinking of removing the 2tb seagate hard drive to save $100. I know it's not much but $100 is $100. I have a 1tb external hard drive to store movies.

I guessing that people will tell me to lose the Titan video card to reduce cost. Is the Titan worth it? Replacing the titan with a gtx680 will save me about $500. What should i do?

Drop the i7 to i5. Drop the mobo to ASRock Z77 Extreme4, unless you want some super serious overclocking. Drop the HDD to 1tb. Drop the sound card. Drop the ram to 8gb. Too many things to list. I"ll just leave my suggestion build here.. You basically went overkill on everything.

Thoughts:

swap out the processor for a 3570K . Hyperthreading 3770 wont improve gaming

You need a 600 watt psu to run that build , not 850 watts .
You probably dont need the Titan either for a single monitor build .
Most people would be good with a 7970 , or GTX 670

No need for a sound card . The mb has a sound system thats more than good enough unless you are connecting to $500 speakers

The sabertooth is a great mb , but it wont perform any better than any other board with a Z77 chipset . It might overclock a little higher . Maybe a couple of hundred MHz . But you can spent $125 on a board and have all the performance you need

This is a nice system setup.

I don't know why would you want 16gb ram since you won't use half of it for gamming.

I don't think that it is a good option to remove the hdd to save couple bucks, remove the extra ram memory instead. 2x4gb maybe, corsair also. You can see in this site a lot of benchmark of games, and extra ram does not help at all.

I have the 680 gtx, it is a good VGA, silent, not power hungry. I think your monitors set up should define if you need more than this or not. If you are using a single monitor 1920x1200 it is over kill the 680gtx. To have experience that uses the true potencial of your machine you should consider getting three monitors (5760*1200) or at least a single monitor with a 2560x1600 resolution.

I had a 570gtx and I changed to the 680gtx using a single monitor, no real difference in gaming. It was good before, now is quite similar experience but the card is running much cooler than before with less effort. I get temperatures between 29C and 41C.

I'm planning to get 3 monitors to play three way. I've been reading this site for a long time, and I consider my reliable source of information.

I prefer/more comfortable with Asus and Intel motherboards. The Asus Sabertooth z77 costs $244. My second choice motherboard is the Asus P8Z77-V PRO/THUNDERBOLT, which cost $205. Or should I drop it even more? The Sabertooth looks like it was built to last long and has a lot of good reviews. I am looking for a computer that will last a decade.

I think i will down size the RAM to 2x4gb as suggested and losing the sound card. I hope the integrated sound card is sufficient for gaming. If not then i will buy it later. I am still thinking of losing the seagate hard drive. That brings the cost down by $225 roughly. If I go with the P8Z77-V Pro motherboard then I will knock off another $50.

ASRock Z77 Extreme4 is one of the most popular mobo. For it's price and features, you can't get any better bang/buck.

No computer lasts a decade . No computer is a even competitive in performance in 5 years

IMO build a computer with a 3 year life time . Spend less now and in 3 years you have the chance to build [ or upgrade ] . Over the ten year period you will spend about the same but your computing experience will be better [on average]

As you will notice, i down sized the memory and video card. I removed the sound card and monitor.

So I believe everything is compatible and will fit in the motherboard and case. Please let me know if you believe there is an issue. Will 2 asus gtx 680 4gb cards fit if i ever decide to add another card in SLI?

With a monitor resolution that low, I say get a gtx670. There's not much difference between a 670 and 680 but the cost difference is pretty big. A gtx670 will max out any game on your resolution. Use the saved money and save up for a good monitor. Still saying like everyone else, your cpu/mobo is just too expensive for your needs. If you want to stick with an asus mobo, get the i5-3570k + Asus p8Z77-V LK. Save more money towards a monitor.
