You can allocate different ring tones for names who are in the phone book by
means of groups. I am trying to allocate a separate ringtone for names NOT
listed in the phone book at all (e.g. unknown people call, or suppress their
number). I tried creating a group with no names in them and hoped that would
work. it did not.

Does anyone know a trick?

Thanks

Assuming the trick I had on my 8310 works...

You have to assign PROFILES to groups, not group ringtones. Assign
*everyone* in your phone book to a group, assign a profile (silent etc) for
each group, and leave one profile as All Calls instead of user group.

Your phone will ring in the profile you selected for All Calls if they're
not in your phonebook or private number.
