im making a build for a friend and he said he wants to record MC, Crysis 3, Gmod, and Dayz in 720p (while playing in 1080p) he also wants 2 use 2 monitors. his budget is 1500USD and possibly run a dual gpu configuration in the future

A fairly solid build but it could be improved upon I'm sure.


Firstly I would spend the extra $30 and get a Samsung 840 Pro series SSD rather than just the 840. It's significantly faster.

Secondly I would look for a higher wattage PSU around 750W or higher. The 7970 draws quite a lot of power and if you plan to add a 2nd in the future along with over-clocking 650W is going to be uncomfortably close to the limit.

Other than that it all looks good to go.

They have the ASUS P8Z77-V LK motherboard in a combo deal with the i5 (look in 'Other' section)

there is a motherboard. i said he'd be going instore at microcenter to get a i5 3570k+ASUS P8Z77-V LK ($269.98)

^The impossible question ;)

It's a high-end system with potential for plenty of upgrades so I don't see why it shouldn't last you at least 4-5 years of solid performance but ultimately it all comes down to your expectations and how fast game requirements increase.
