Guys,

I am going to be spending a few bucks on a new desktop, but I am now torn on which motherboard to go with (among other things).

I am not a gamer, but hey- It is always better to have and not need than to need and not have, right? Ive been budgeting for this for a while anyways, so its time to splurge. My goal is to have a 64-bit system, Win 7 or 8 on an SSD, main storage on one HDD (10K rpm), and Linux on another HDD (7200 rpm). I dont need a graphics card strictly for gaming, but it does need to have dual monitor support. Im not planning on building another system for a while, so this will have to last several years.

Heres what Im thinking about:

CPU: Intel i7 3770K
MoBo: Asus P8Z77-V? Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H? Asus Sabertooth Z77?
Storage: Intel 520 Series SSD- 120 GB (Win 7), WD Velociraptor 500GB 10K rpm (files), Seagate 500GB 7200rpm (Linux).
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz]
Case: Nzxt Phantom (Full ATX tower)]
PSU: Corsair AX850
Cooling: Antec Kuhler H2O 920
Video: XFX AMD Radeon HD 7870
Display: Viewsonic 24" LED (VX2450WM)

Any thoughts on the MoBo?

The sabertooth is an awesome mobo so if you want to spend the cash go for it.

A lot of people say that the Sabertooth fails after about 8 months or is DOA. I would be furious if I spent all that money to have that happen

Really? Hadn't heard that. My friend has one, and his works fine at least for now.

I've built a system with the Sabertooth, and it was great. Still ticking along after 6 months. I personally use a Gigabyte Z77X-UP5 (and if you're looking for thunderbolt support, I recommend that board.) Unless you plan on doing some heavy OC or just like the look, I would skip the water cooling and go with a Hyper 212 Evo, NH-D14, or the like. They cool at roughly the same efficiency for less coin.
