Solution
Actually, you could probably keep your motherboard and pop a i5 3350P in there.

If I had a $700 budget and your system, keep your case, your PSU looks fine, could keep HDD, Ram, and mobo.

Upgrade that cpu and gpu and you should notice a big difference.

$180 for the Core i5-3350P (Ivy Bridge)

$500 ($450) on 680 gtx.
this is a sexy one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125422

That would speed you up quite nicely.
See what some others say.

You absolutely can stay with that cpu. It's still a good one. You had a $700 budget so I was maxing it out. :D

As for the 680gtx, it sounded like you had your mind made up on that one. My setup has the 670 gtx and I have done a minor oc so it is at the 680 gts specs. Something to think about.

That HDD is still relatively current. If you are really looking to cut corners and still have a decent gaming system, you can stay with that HDD. Get a good SSD and then you can just use that HDD for storage.

I got the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-227-915&ParentOnly=1 and am quite happy with it. Note it is a 2.5" drive, and comes with a 3.5@ bracket. I chose it because of all the rewards it won.
